A review of Goosebumps: Phantom of the Auditorium
by Lake Siglin, age 11
Hi, I am Lake and I saw the Chills Cast of Goosebumps: Phantom of the Auditorium at First Stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was a SCARILY good musical. The storyline is really good. It's about a mystery at a haunted middle school, where students are putting on a musical involving a phantom.
There were quite a few things I liked about the show. Both the adult and kid actors were all really talented with great singing voices. I really enjoyed the opening number of the show titled "Goosebumps." The song is fun and catchy and I liked that they used flashlights for this number.
I also liked the set (designed by Martin McClendon) because it helped tell the story and made it clear when they were in the basement of the school versus when they were in the theatre.
The snacks at First Stage were really cheap and yummy. You could buy some Halloween-themed stuff and there was a goated Halloween party before the show with Legos. Some of the stuff they had for sale were Goosebumps books, earrings, board games, and scrunchies.
The only thing I didn't like about the show was that the lights kept going on and off, which hurt my eyes.
Overall, the show was really good and awesome. The storyline was a masterpiece, and on the day I went they had a talkback where you met the writer of the script and the director of the show.
Check out more shows coming up at First Stage!
